I’m John Metzler, founder of freshpromo and author of our blog. Having earned a living doing SEO full-time since 2001 I feel I have a few nuggets of wisdom to impart upon those looking for some helpful hints. There is a right and a wrong way to do SEO and unfortunately a lot of myths and poor techniques are being perpetuated on the Internet. Hopefully this blog can save you time and money in your efforts to promote your sites on the search engines.

I strive to update this as much as possible but with a busy schedule spent mostly with clients and my own web sites, posts can be infrequent at times. We do accept guest authors from time to time so if you think you’ve got a fantastic idea for an article and want to do a little self-promotion on our site, let us have a look at it and we’ll consider featuring you in a blog post with a link to your site.

In addition to SEO, I do have other interests and hobbies. Here are a few tidbits:

- favorite food: sushi
- avid music fan
- amateur photographer (I could spend entire days locked in a b&w darkroom)
- enjoy traveling and discovering local microbrew beers
- once traveled to Holland to preform in a string ensemble (I played viola)
- amateur poet/short story writer (maybe one day I’ll get organized and try to get some of it published)
- Starbucks lattes are essential on early mornings
- I’m still a loyal fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs (no, it isn’t easy)
- Trivial Pursuit is the best board game ever (Mastermind is a very close second)

The freshpromo blog gives me a space to voice my opinions and announce company news. I appreciate the time people take to read my posts and hope you get something out of it.
